Sunday, April 19, 2009 1994 Flashback Hi folks again, I shall continue now with the next flashback of what I did when you all were born. If this gets a bit stale, then let me know ok, because got no point continuing if nobody is interested. hehehehehehehehe. Well, I just came back from a 11-day trip to Sitiawan in Perak in Malaysia. I was there with another 8 friends and we were helping with the church there because the priest is alone and he got nobody to help him attract people to come to church in sundays and he especially wanted us to help to talk to the youths there. It was very very fun and I learnt a lot of things, like how to survive if you got no money since its only a small town and everything is old and not advanced. We slept on the floor at one of the church's backrooms and we only got mats and blankets to use. The food was only normal standard and everything else was like an attap house. I never suffered so much before but I knew it was a big learning experience for me. In the end, I never regretted going at all and feel some sense of achievement because the Malaysians were all so happy to see us, like we were going to save them like that. It was already 1 month into this 4 month holiday and I was very busy finding things to do all the time. My friends planned for many activities, like camps and outings and 2 different trips to Malaysia to do church work there. I enjoyed my life in NUS very much and I was back there most of the days even though I was supposed to be enjoying. Doing this type of work was enjoyment for me and most of my friends were all doing the same thing, so it never actually felt like work because we were all happy to be together anyway. My results also came out already and I did ok for my maths and physics but not so ok for my computational science. Its actually not bad considering that I got chicken-pox and was doing the exams in a private room and of course I got no mood to study at that time. Now I was already thinking very hard what I should study for my 2nd year starting in July, whether it should be maths or physics. I was very crazy about Melody at this time and the chances to go out with her were not much, because she was very guai guai and always must go home after our activities. All of us were good friends so I tried very hard to wait for a proper chance, but I became very impatient and started to treat her differently after a while. My 11-day trip made me miss her even more and this confirmed that I have to do something or I'll regret it lah. I remember calling her almost every night from the public phone outside the church and I bought many phone cards because of her. She actually can come along with me for this trip, but I think she was not sure so she ended up not going. *sigh*. Until now, I can still remember the feelings I got for those few days so far away. Once I came back, I was even more sure that I wanted her and so by that time, I didn't care if other people knew snd I just went on and tried my best to win her over.
